Dancers face each other in pairs with a taiko drum in the middle. The dancers wear red tasuki (sashesuki) over their yukata (light cotton kimono), wear Ichimonji suga hats, and hold a short bachi called tsukuro, made of paulownia wood, in both hands. The Sugahasa are colored red and white and are a gorgeous attire.

The dancers beat the backs of drums and taiko drums while dancing to the song of rain begging and zaibai. The highlight of the dance is the big swing of the hat. There are several types of dances, each with its own showpiece. There is a basic order of the dances: "ba narashi" → "sambaiko" → "sasara" → "aya" → "osame".

It is a simple and atmospheric festival that expresses the earnest wishes of the farmers in the good old days.
